I feel compelled to make a statement about the fire paintings: I began the series during the fires in San Diego county in 2003 and worked strictly from my imagination in which the fear of fire loomed large, as I live near a canyon myself. No particular fire or location is depicted here, and any similarity is purely coincidental.
